Yeah, 4000-4250 is probably closer. The added options, like the 12 Volt system and in/out temp gauge and full leather interior didn't cost that much in those days....Not like options cost today! But he bought it in Germany and had to pay for shipping the car to the US.

When you are quoting prices for Speedsters in the $125 - 150,000 range, whate type are you talking about? The last time I checked you get a decent "regular" Speedster for around $60,000 or so.

Jerry,
A professionally restored, painted, upholstered, motor/trans rebuilt, drivable Speedster. 60 grand? I'll take two!
Seriously, a 60k Speedster is one that needs complete restoration from what I have seen. If you know of one for 60 that is "done", PLEASE pm me the info.
I've recently seen Cabs and especially Convertible Ds going for way over 60K.
Starting price for a "done" Speedster these days is 90. A really top notch Speedster is in the 140-150 range. And I'm not talkin' about 4 cam Carrera's either, they are 200 plus, plus!
Cheers,
Robert

Wow! I guess I should get hot on finishing the '55 Pre-A Speedster setting in my garage. I bought it 3 years ago for $17,000. My wife thought I was crazy, "because it isn't nearly as nice as the '64C, and it cost more". It looks like it might be my retirement program.

805 is still Ventura right? How many new Area Codes are now in the So. Cal. Area? Probably as many area codes as there are 356's
