Default hooking up oil temp gauge

Can anyone tell me what posts are what on a C° temp gauge? The back has three spade connectors, one has a "G" next to it, the next has a "+" and the third has what appears to be the universal symbol for ground. What goes to what? TIA

Hi Bart...go to the 356 Registry web site http://www.356registry.org and subscribe to the "talklist". There are about 2000 members connected and this kind of question is answered in 15 minutes average...tons of expert 356 guys there.

Good luck...

My apologies. I thought this was a 356 site. Is this not a good place to ask 356 questions?

I'll look at the registry, too. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Bart...this is a 356 forum indeed...maybe you'll find your answer here but your chance to get a precise answer for such specif technical question will definitely increase there, due to the fact that the "old timers" experienced mechanics who have been around these cars since they were new are there...not here! Give it a try and you'll understand what I'm talking about! Another source for technical information is the Pelicanparts BBS...

Good luck...

Bart,
I think on the temp gauge, the + is obvious the power connection, the "G" terminal is ground, and the other connection is to the sensor. Gonna check the wiring diagrams later to make sure, and will let you know.

And yes, you probably would have received a quicker response on 356talk. We are trying to get some of the diehards to take off their blinders and come over and at least check out Rennlist. That may take years though.

Hope this helps,
Robert

Robert:

THANK YOU for the help. Any other info you can give I'd much appreciate. I didn't want to subscribe to another email listing and get bombbarded with emails if I could find the answer here on the Rennlist page. I'm in no hurry for this so time wasn't a factor. Just the info.

Thanks again.

Hey Bart........
Ok. I was wrong! The "G" connection is for the sensor. + is for positive and the other is ground. Sorry about that. If you connected it the other way I don't think anything drastic would have happened. Probably the needle would just peg.

Robert
