Default Oil Leak related help

Greetings to everyone,

Probably a dum question but would love to get fedback from the 356 "savants" here.

My 356 B leaks oil as seen on this picture. I am thinking the drain plug was probably not torqued well enough. Before moving the car I just wanted to check in and ask whether anyone knew the torque spec for this drain plug which I assume is the gearbox. Obviously if you have any other thoughts as to where the oil comes from that would be helpful. The oil on the floor is too thick to be engine oil and has a clear color. The car did have a check up about 6 months ago and the gearbox oil was changed.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It is a conical plug so no real torque spec. try tightening 1/8th turn. If that doesn't work I would try a new plug with a very small amount of permeated#2 form a gasket on threads and torque to 50 ft/ lbs.

Thanks Zoomie50. It looks like the plug is not the culprit, it is tight. The accelerator reverse lever is mounted on a bolt which is mounted on the gearbox. The leak sems to come from the seat of that bolt. This would assume that the seat of the bolt communicates with the gearbox oil which is odd. I will try to tigthen that bolt when I get a chance to see if it stops the leak. Thanks again for your input.

Gigi Join The Registry. It is worth it. Best way to search for a specific problem though such as this one is Google. If you were to google "Porsche 356 transmission leak" several threads will show that you can look through.
