Default Porsche crest momo horn button Q's

I've done a search, but I'm still a little confused. I have an '87 car (airbags), 7004 hub, Momo Race wheel, Porsche crest horn button from eBaY...

The hub has two wires, one black that goes through a hole in the bottom, one green/yellow that has a ring lug on one side connected to the hub itself, the other a spade connector. The horn button has 1 tab for a spade connector.

Q1.) I believe the green/yellow wire goes to the tab on the horn button. Is this correct?

Q2.) Where does the black wire go?

Q3.) The black trim piece that covered the rotary switch interferes with the hub so it will not go all the way on the steering shaft. Do I trim away some of the plastic from the trim piece, or remove material from the hub?

Q4.) The Porsche crest button does not fit under the ring for the wheel itself. I cannot bolt the wheel to the hub because the ring will not sit flush over the Porsche button. Does the button come apart, or do I remove some material from the ring?

Pictures of anyone's install would be very helpful. I've found a few write-ups, but none with the Porsche crest button.

Thanks

I am sure you will get this solved before I can help, but when I get off work I will shoot some pictures for you. IIRC the wire coming off my momo pcrest button spade is black.....

I'll be dismantling my Momo wheel with Momo Porsche crest button by next week when I get my new wheel, I'll be sure to take photos for you. Remind me by next week if you haven't solved your problem yet.

I taped one wire to the metal ring (ground) and the other I connected. It worked and someone else on rennlist had done the same thing as me when asked. Dont care if its right - it works.
As for the fitment issue - I did not have that problem. (No good pics either, sorry)

Most of the horn buttons have two tabs. One for the black and the other for the green wire. If I remember correctly, for you, the black wire connects to the spade on the horn button and the green needs to ground somewhere (usually, to a ring that fits between the steering wheel and hub.

I just put a Momo wheel and 7004 hub on my airbag '87 and had some of the same problems. I used the stock Momo horn button which has two terminals, so there was no question there. I used a combo switch assembly from a non-airbag '86 to get the horn contact. The 4 screw holes on the plastic cover do not line up with the non-airbag combo switch. Turns out the bottom 2 screws do line up, only the top 2 do not. So I just have the bottom two holding it on, which is enough. I put the top 2 screws in the cover with a little dab of black silicone to keep them in place, just for esthetics (I don't like empty screw holes).

The 7004 hub interfered with the plastic cover on mine too. I removed some material from the cover, not the hub. This worked fine. Lastly, I cut the two airbag warning light wires from the airbag computer as described at www.944s2.com. I love my wheel !!!

Only problem after buttoning it all back up is the used combo switch I used is faultly The left signal does not cancel automatically, and the high-beam headlight circuit is shorted (ie. always on). I pulled the high-beam headlight fuses as a temporary fix for that. Need to get a new combo switch ....

The switch you want has the copper strip contact on top right of the front. This is the horn contact that contacts the ring on the 7004 hub. These are available new everywhere for $150-200. Used on Ebay for $20-70, but who knows if they work (I got burned)...

yes, but it only works with some switch assemblies. It wouldn't work with mine. YMMV.
