Option Codes - which ones were we not able to resolve?
I just got off the phone with my dear friend in Germany, who happens to deal with costing of factory options at Porsche.
He had found a set of 1987 928 S4 original press photos at a swap meet and sent them over. What a friend!!!
My archive keeps growing, thanks to him and a few other wonderful people around the world...
He is pretty sure that Porsche still has the prototype with the widened Audi Coupe body - the one described in the "Project 928" book, as well as in Jörg Austen's technical documentation. It would be tucked away in a secret warehouse, along with other treasures that few people know about.
I told him that there are option codes we were not able to resolve. He said that if they are three-digit codes, he might be able to reference them for us. He can't guarantee that he'll find them, but is happy to give it a try.
PLEASE LIST THE 3-DIGIT OPTION CODES WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE! I will forward them to him, and post his reply here.

I think many Cxx codes like C06 are unknown. They should be destinations.
C00 --- Germany
C03 --- California
C05 --- France
C23 --- Australia
C36 --- Canada
C02 is usually considered to be catalytic converter but is it just USA model? I think kat euros like '86 32V S M298/299 do not have C02. Might be wrong though.

Nicole,
I feel like a kid in a candy store. Some of the unresolved option codes on my car start with 00, 09 or 10 and then have three digits. I will list the five digits, but I believe that you can ignore the 00, 09 or 10 prefix and search on the last three digits. Then I will also list my unresolved three digit codes. It you can get me two or three I will be happy.

Could the first one be XC8? That would be shift **** in light rootwood. XG6 would be steering wheel in all leather, custom color.

My friend told me he would only be able to try and resolve 3-digit codes. He says that sometimes sales creates packages for certain markets that he would not know about (because it would not affect his job in any way). I can send him the 5-digit codes, but don't expect to get an answer on those!

Nicole,
Thanks for xu1. I just disconnected the remote power locks receiver because it was freaking out the alarm system. I found it under the passenger seat mounted quite professionaly to the floor and wired in a connectorized manner to the factory alarm control unit. PO never had the remote control for it anyway. I am going to try to wire in another unit as a weekend project some time.
xg8 is definately xg8. Both on the build sticker in the rear hatch area as well as the one in the maintenance book.
I am hoping that one of these options is 'build with 5% more horsepower'. :^).
Thanks again for your help.

Nicole,
I have a Canadian 85 S 5 spd. with option code C036 that I had never previously been able to reference. Thanks.
I have the original bill of sale for my car listing LSD, heated sport seats and leather steering wheel as options. There are no codes listed under the rear carpet other than C036. This has always seemed unusual to me. Any comment? Why would the priced options not be listed as well?
I also have a 1987 944 with a long list of option codes on the sticker. Unlike the 928, the 944 was originally sold in the US.

Hi Doug:
To the best of my knowledge, option codes were listed when they were not included in the standard equipment for the destination country. I believe that - at least from S4 onward - all Canadian cars had heated seats. I am surprised that you say there are heated 'sports' seats and no code. I'm also surprised that the leather on the steering wheel was an option...
