Rennsport Reunion Vid Is the Best Point-of-View Porsche History Lesson Ever

 Rennsport Reunion

How do you traverse 62 years of Porsche motorsport history in just one lap of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca? Climb aboard these 20 Porsche race cars representing every era in their history, and check it out for yourself. This is one of those videos that you’ll want to crank up the volume for, so prepare for an aurally stimulating experience.

Beginning with the old 4-cam cars, Porsche starts the video out with 550 Spyder #001, then progresses through time with stops along the way to visit various 911 racers, including a 906 and an RS Spyder. Then they finish at the modern 919 Hybrid LMP1 racer. In any case, it’s easy to see that Porsche has always made racing cars that look great, even from the inside. Whether powered by a flat-six, a high-strung V8, or a turbocharged V4, Porsche has always made dynamic racing cars that punch above their weight classes.

My personal favorite is the sunburst 908/3 car that raced at the Targa Florio in 1970. This is the car with stalk mirrors that shows up in the video at around 1:26, between turn 5 and 6. What’s your favorite?
