993 Gives a Few Lessons to 997 GT3 RS at The Ring (Video)

By -

When you put the right driver behind the wheel of any car, it’s gonna be lightning quick.

You know a driver is wheeling a Porsche correctly when he’s a bit busy behind the wheel. Take for instance this 993. Without the modern assistance of paddle shifters and active dampers, the air-cooled wonder handles as you’d expect a rear-drive car to handle.

Even more evident is when he catches up to, and passes, a 997 GT3 RS.

Even though the video is only a short snippet of the battle with the GT3, you can immediately tell this guy must have thousands of laps at that track, likely in that 993. His ability to control oversteer at insane speeds is the proof.

Such is the humbling nature of public days at the ‘Ring, you’ll almost always find someone who’s faster, even if you think you’re bringing a gun to a knife fight. Now, that’s not saying the 997 driver is any slouch, because he sure put up a fight over the span of a few minutes. Plus, you never know the equipment that the 993 could be packing, esp in the form of sticky rubber. Judging by the 993’s tail-wagging, the tires can’t be that sticky.
