Ultra Rare Red Porsche 918 Weissach Surfaces for Sale
Porsche only brought 162 Weissach-equipped 918s to our shores. And this 525-mile beauty is one of only 5 in Guards Red!
For fans of the brand, the Porsche 918 Weissach Package holds a certain amount of symbolism. In typical Porsche fashion, they dropped their hybrid hyper car on the world with aplomb, letting its extreme performance do the talking. But in the 13th hour, the crack team in Stuttgart performed some last minute tweaking to make it even faster.
By simply deleting some unnecessary interior parts, adding more carbon fiber, and switching to magnesium wheels, the Porsche 918 Weissach shed 90 pounds over the “regular” model. Which was good enough to also shave two-tenths of a second off the car’s 0-62 time. Porsche then used a Weissach-equipped 918 to record their blistering, record-setting 6:57 lap at the NĂĽrburgring. And, perhaps more importantly, this lighter plug-in hybrid hypercar was also quicker than the Ferrari LaFerrari.
Of course, opting for the Weissach package wasn’t exactly an inexpensive endeavor. And with only 162 hitting our shores, there simply aren’t that many kicking around on the used car market. But this stunning Guards Red example, up for sale at Merit Partners, is one of only five built in that particular hue and number 221 of 300 imported to the U.S.
The owner of this rare ride clearly appreciated how special this car is. It was completely wrapped in clear paint protection film from day one, and it’s only accumulated 525 miles since. All the original goodies are there, too. From a new set of carbon fiber mats to the leather key pouch and manuals. The original carbon fiber Weissach wheels are also included with the purchase. But we’re admittedly digging the way those satin HRE P101Â Forged Monoblocks look.
“Rare” is a word that gets kicked around a bit too much these days. So we wouldn’t blame you for being a bit desensitized every time you hear it.
