Rennlist‘s Favorite Porsches from the Upcoming Petersen Auction
From race cars and classics to icons and accessible rides, RM Sotheby’s December 8 auction has a Porsche for you.
When it comes to finding the Porsche of your dreams, an auction is one of the better options out there. Where else can you find the best of the best, curated, inspected and presented in the most fabulous of settings, but at an auction held by one of the big auction houses.
We were looking through one such auction the other day, the RM Sotheby’s Petersen Automotive Museum Auction in Los Angeles on December 8, and found our four favorite Porsches we’d like to share with you.
1976 Porsche 935 Gr. 5 Turbo by Kremer
This Ice Green Metallic 935 started off as a standard Turbo model before “a well-known hairstylist in Heidelberg, Germany, had the Turbo modified with the 935K package from Kremer Racing.” It landed in the U.S. in the 1980s, where it has changed hands several times since. Everything about this 935 is wonderful, from the green interior with leather/cloth power seats, to the numbers-matching turbo 3.0-liter flat-six and four-speed manual transaxle.
1957 Porsche 356 A 1600 Speedster by Reutter
Only two owners have helmed the wheel of this red 356A. Thanks to the dry weather of its current home in San Diego, the Speedster is well-preserved. It also has its original sheet metal, as well as its original red paint and black leatherette interior. Whoever becomes the third owner will have a 356 made for the California sun.
1987 Porsche 959 Komfort
The 959 is the top Porsche of many a fan’s list, and this black 959 Komfort should be no exception. The 959 was one of a handful federalized for use on California’s canyon roads and straight highways. It’s also one of two 959s imported together into the U.S. in 1987, and still has its California emissions compliance certification. Any time we happen upon a 959 is a fine time, and we wish we could drive this one.
1986 Porsche 944 Turbo
Need a ride to Radwood? This Guards Red on black 944 Turbo is your time machine. While most 944s have been driven to death, this one was driven by two owners who took great care of this front-engined dream machine. “In superb original condition,” all this 944 needs is you in your best white linen suit and pastel tee, and a synthwave cassette tape in the Blaupunkt Monterey stereo.
