One of only three 2012 Porsche Cayman R examples finished in Peridot Green on took a tree to its roofline before winding up for sale.

We’re no strangers to seeing cars get crashed around here. It happens all to often. Someone with more money than skill gets a little too cocky behind the wheel and loses their car. It’s a tragedy to see beautiful Porsches get destroyed. However, it’s even more upsetting when it’s something entirely out of the control of a responsible owner. In the case of this Cayman R, that’s exactly what went down.

This 2012 Porsche Cayman R came up for sale on Facebook Marketplace relatively recently. It has since sold, but the listing caught our eye because of the unique color. As it turns out, this is one of only three examples specced in Peridot Green to match the color of its GT3 factory wheels. That made it sting even more as we scrolled to the photo of a tree sitting on top of it. The aftermath shows damage to the door frame, roofline, driver-side door, and rear quarter panels.

Tastefully Modified to the Tragic End

From the language of the listing, it’s clear that the seller loved the car. It has a host of modifications and even spent some time on track. It has GT3 control arms and, ironically, ScotchGuard paint protection film. The seller states that a previous owner was Zac Beatty, Director of Auction Operations & Customer Experience at Bring A Trailer. Peeking at Beatty’s Instagram account seems to reveal the tree incident occurred under his ownership.

The car is pretty nice in spec, too. It has Bose Sound, Bi-Xenon headlights, a Sports Shifter, and, importantly, the Sport Chrono package. It also has recent service from a Porsche specialist in Beverly Hills including a rev report, oil change, and fresh spark plugs from February 7th. With an asking price of $55,000, this pretty green Cayman R sold rather quickly.

Ultimately, even with the damage, $55,000 is a pretty solid deal. The ad states that the car had only 67,500 miles on the odometer. So, it’s certainly worth saving. The bodywork isn’t going to be simple, but it’s definitely within the realm of doable. We’ve seen far worse cars get a full restoration treatment and come out of it looking brand new. Ultimately, we’re just glad that this rare example of a Cayman gets to live to see another day!
