Porsche Cayenne Über Turbo

Porsche’s Über Cayenne is poised and ready to reset the mightiest sport ute records.

Porsche is playing Cinderella as it prepares to launch its most powerful Cayenne Turbo yet in its efforts to regain lost ground against its stepsister Bentley Bentayga Speed, Lamborghini Urus and Audi RS Q8 rivals. Set to be revealed alongside the rest of Stuttgart’s re-fettled big SUV line-up at the end of June, the heavily Über Cayenne Turbo will be Porsche’s strongest combustion Cayenne yet.

Power will hike to 640 hp from a tweaked version of Porsche’s 4-litre biturbo petrol V8. The new car will only come in Coupé get-up as a standalone model over and above the ‘regular’ Cayenne Turbo. In an effort to help ensure best possible performance and dynamics.

Cayenne

Extra Performance, Heightened Dynamics.

“The Coupé is lighter and has a slightly lower center of gravity than the SUV,” Cayenne chief engineer Rico Löscher pointed out as the Stuttgart carmaker confirmed its latest big SUV plans. “Our intention is to deliver not only the most powerful, but also the sportiest Cayenne to date. “It mates extra performance potential with heightened engagement and dynamics.”

The new model gains 90 hp on the existing Cayenne Turbo, has 40 hp more than what the same V8 produces in the Audi RS Q8 and just 10 hp less than it does in the Lamborghini Urus. Torque is also up 60 lb ft to 626 lb ft. The 5,500 lb Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid by the way delivers 680 hp.

Improvements are understood to be courtesy of a new titanium exhaust system and tweaked engine management software for both the engine and Cayenne’s the eight-speed automatic gearbox. A revised electronic differential also brings enhanced torque vectoring and lock-up. And the all-wheel drive will be adapted to deliver a more rear-biased character.
