Goodwood Weekend: Porsche Takes a Look Back at Awesome Event

By -

Porsche is a brand built on a backbone of motorsport, and there’s no better showcase for that than the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Since the early 1950s, the Porsche brand has continually been involved in high-level professional motorsport, and can trace their roots back even farther than that. Being that the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and more specifically the hillclimb itself, is dedicated to the history of motorsport and its relationship to the road-going automobile, it’s the perfect place for Porsche to get deeply involved from a corporate perspective. The synergies here are just too good to pass up. That’s why Porsche felt the need to officially launch their fastest and most powerful 911 ever, the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, on the grounds of the festival.

Above and beyond that launch, Porsche was also out in full force with several vintage Porsches participating, a number of Porsche-affiliated drivers running cars up the hill, and other significant new Porsche demonstrations taking place. Porsche used the Goodwood event to promote their new Panamera Sport Turismo, their new 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series, and their new 2018 GT3 Cup entry-level racing car. With people like Mark Webber and Walter Rohrl in attendance on behalf of Porsche, as well as executives the likes of Detlev von Platen, Andreas Preuninger, and Oliver Blume, it’s clear they pulled out all of the stops.

The Goodwood FOS ranks quite high on our personal bucket list of automotive-themed international events, and this short video from Porsche only helps to heighten our enthusiasm for such an event. If you have the opportunity to attend, you absolutely should. And maybe one day we’ll see you there.
