Singer Vehicle Design specializes in the fine art of bespoke handcraft restorations of Porsche 911’s. They have a passion for modernizing the last of an air-cooled era being the 964-model Porsche 911’s from the early 1990’s. Based out of California they have been restoring and customizing for the last six years with many outstanding final products. The goal for each project is blending classic styling from early ‘60’s with the most advanced powertrains and handling equipment available today.

Their story starts with a personal project by their creator and founder Rob Dickenson called the “Brown Bomber”. This project pre-dating Singer Vehicle Designs, set the stage for their international acclaim. Just as Rob chose the finest products for his Porsche, he sits down with clients to assemble a product list. This one-on-one consultation and hand-crafted restoration process is one of few in the world.

One of the projects that brought Singer to my attention is this Downtown Blue painted 964 shown in the pictures that was finished last year. I was able to see it in person at last year’s LA Auto Show. It was beyond the quality I thought I was going to see. It is Concours d’ elegance quality.

Their process starts by fully stripping down the 964-model Porsche 911 to its bare body. Here it is reinforced and rewelded to customers specifications. This model has received a full carbon fiber body panel exterior. Signer states on their website their work with Ed Park Racing Engines and Aria International has made them one of the premier carbon fiber specialists. On their website, they show bare carbon fiber body not painted and it does look as world-class as they say.

Just as amazing as the body work are the high-end performance handling and powertrain parts they work with. Ohlins suspension, Brembo braking systems, and Cosworth engines are just some of the proven race equipment manufacturers that supply parts to Signer. This Downtown Blue Porsche 911 is fit with all of these from the gold Ohlins, big Brembos and a beasty 3.8L flat-six upwards of 300 HP. Another upgrade was the addition of LSD which would be a thrilling feeling in this small sports coupe.

Take a look through our pictures to see these one-of-type Porsches reimaged with modern technology and 60’s styling to fit your fancy. Would you consider letting Signer reimagine your 964 for the price upwards of $400,000?
