Guinness World Record was smashed by Chloe Chambers in a stock 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder.

Once again Porsche had a drive for the record books. Driven by 16-year old Chloe Chambers, the company set a new Guinness World Records achievement for the Fastest Vehicle Slalom. There are a lot of remarkable aspects to this story, not the least of which is Chambers’ age. However we must admit that we were equally stunned that the 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder that ran the course was bone stock.

Vehicle slalom is an autocross motor sport event that puts handling to the test. Each car runs the course individually in pursuit of a clean run and best time. With twisty roads and cones, it emphasizes handling, grip, and skill. And speed, of course.

The record breaking course consisted of 51 cones equally spaced at 50-foot intervals, and Chambers made the run in a jaw-dropping 47.45-seconds.

“It looks easy, but it’s really not–to weave between 50 cones as fast as possible, trying to beat a record time and knowing I couldn’t touch a single one for the run to count–I definitely felt the pressure,” said Chambers.

At only 16, Chambers has already made a name for herself in the world of racing. She got her start at 7 (!) and has built a solid reputation as a track slayer. While she has mostly driven Karts, she has also moved on up into automobiles. And when it comes to cars, the girl certainly has taste.

“Everything came together on my final run; the car worked beautifully and I found the grip I needed,” she says. “Thank you to my family and to Porsche for supporting and believing in me.”

But we need to give more credit where more credit is due: What a ride. The win was the perfect union of driver and machine.

Developed by the Porsche Motorsport department, the 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder is a agile and powerful ride. Housing a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer six-cylinder engine, the 718 Spyder sends 414 horses to the rear wheels. Also, the 718 Spyder’s track-bred Porsche Active Suspension Management and lower ride height make it a great choice for the sport.

For the uninitiated, vehicle slalom might sound–well–like Marcia Brady running an obstacle course without breaking an egg. It isn’t. Chambers’ is a gifted and badass driver with innate Porsche prowess.
