Default 235/40-19 and 285/35-19 Conti DWS 06 Plus on C4S

Will these sizes fit? I want to install Conti ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus tires and keep the front/rear height ratio about the same. These are the closest sizes to the stock ratio, but they are taller than stock. Stock is 2.7% taller in rear. These are 1.9%. I know Porsche recommends 235/35-19 and 295/30-19 for winter tires and that’s a 2% difference. 0.1% difference seems close enough that the AWD system should be able to manage it.

Conti says that 285/35-19 is good for a 11” rim.

I wouldn’t mind a little extra sidewall height if they will fit. The fronts are 0.9” taller and the rears are 0.7” taller.

Thanks!

Those should be fine. They're within 1.7% of each other and only a little taller than stock. Your Speedo will read a couple mph low but that's the only issue I foresee.

I have been looking at the Conti DWS 06 Plus as well for an all-season option as just don’t get enough snow to merit a dedicated winter tire/wheels. Was curious to hear your experience with the Conti’s?

Would also be nice to know the wheel size you are running, especially in the rear. I have Turbo wheels that are 11x19 in the back. I did read that 285/35/19 should be ok.

I have had really good experience with the DWS on my A6 as well so hoping the tires have worked out well for you.

Thanks for any update you can share!

I planned on doing this setup but my dealer accidentally ordered 235/35-19 instead of 235/40-19. So my winter setup is DWS 06+ on 235/35-19 and 285/30-19 on factory wheels in 19x8 and 19x11. I think they fit well! I’m very pleased with their grip and ride comfort. They’re much quieter than my PS4S summer setup.

235/35-19 is actually the normal front tire size and paired with that 285/30 rear, you're just fine as they are within 1% of each other for diameter and rolling circumfernce which means the ABS, PSM, and AWD transfer case (in AWD models) will be happy.

From a circumference perspective, those are actually better than the 295/30 (2%) and 305/30 (2.87%) rears that most people run, but you do have less width on the rear from a traction perspective.

DWS06+ tires are superb. I run them on a BMW X5, Audi Q5, Infiniti FX45, and my son's 944 S2.

I'm using the DWS06s (not plus?) on my C2S in 18" setup for the best ride. They are a bit soft and squishy, but the work great for my needs. Will work in any weather but the worst (where it'll stay in the garage). I put 235 in the front and 285 in the rear on -1 Porsche 18s.

Really appreciate the comments, guys!

I will be looking to swap out for the DWS 06+ before it gets cold here in Columbus.

Thanks, Jason

I began the switch to all season tires a few years ago on my 1985 911, the Michelin A/S3+, and last year on my 2011 997.2, the Michelin A/S4. I was tired of them sitting in the garage for a few months each winter, and I’m delighted with the outcome. I don’t drive in snow, or with salt on the road. I’m not racing these vehicles, but I do drive them hard, and the tires are fine.

In fact, I find that my 1985 is better in the wintertime than summer , because the air conditioning is basically worthless in n the summer, whereas the heat is just fine in the winter. Mike

I have this exact setup - Turbo wheels with DWS06+ in 235/35/19 front and 285/30/19 in the back. I ran them all last season for a few thousand miles. They were great. The rears have a little bit of "stretch" to them visually but doesn't seem to affect driving. I was worried that the narrower tire would mean more inner shoulder wear, but that hasn't materialized yet.

For what it's worth, if folks really want 19 inch all-seasons in the correct size (295/30/19 rear), I think only Toyo Proxes Sport A/S have both the front and rear correct sizes:
