German tuner 9FF pushes Porsche 997 GT2 Turbo to extreme (and extremely amazing) limits on the track.

We realize that most drivers do not buy a Porsche for a track toy. However, Porsche is certainly able to reach high-speeds and refined performance on the track and off. Certainly the Porsche 997 GT2 Turbo is a car bred to perform. But there’s fast, and then there is 2000 horses of hellfire.

With the design of the type 997, Porsche made the 911 even more dynamic and purpose-built. Then they went further with the GT2 Turbo. When it rolled off the lines, the 911 GT2 RS housed a 3.6-liter engine that made 611 horsepower. It boasted a lap time of 7:18 minutes on the Nürburgring North Loop.

So yes, it was already one bad ride. But in the talented hands of German tuner 9FF, the 997.1 GT2 Turbo becomes utterly blistering.

At first blush, it looks just fan-freaking-tastic. Black with sporty but tasteful stripes. Sleek. Dynamic. Clean. And then it opens up and unleashes hell. Able to go from 0 to 232mph in a blink, it is running the quarter-mile on heat and fury. And impeccable technology.

9FF builds a wide range of Porsche rockets. But the 997.1 GT2 Turbo is the fastest. Literally, it holds the record for the fastest Porsche. It has posted record acceleration times of 100-200 km/h (62-124 mph) in 2.5 seconds, and 200-300 km/h (124-186 mph) in 4.08 seconds.

Built in-house at 9FF, the 997 was fitted with a 3.9 liter displacement engine, 9FF engine block reinforcement, forged pistons. steel cylinders, titanium connecting rods, cylinder heads, camshafts, aluminum intake manifold, dual injection, and turbocharger with ball bearings and water cooling. Upgrades include 6-speed sequential racing gearbox, suspension, shocks, struts, tires, and more.

Still street legal, and definitely track lethal.

Not only do we get to see this masterpiece on the track, we get the onboard experience. It is a work of art and engineering. The Porsche was built to handle the high speeds remarkably, but it is not playing around. The sound and the fury of the 997 GT2 Turbo cannot be denied.
