This Porsche 911 GT1 Evolution is a God’s-honest GT1 racer. Like the kind only professionals should drive. Or guys with $3.1 million.

That’s how much one lucky bidder just dropped on this absolutely stunning GT1 car at last weekend’s RM Sotheby’s auction. Well, €2.772.000, technically. Either way, it fetched big bucks, as we expected back in March.

Bear in mind though, this isn’t the homologated, out-of-the-box street-legal GT1, the 911 GT1 Straßenversion. This is a proper race car, and a winning one at that, to the tune of 13 victories in 31 starts, including three straight Canadian GT championship wins. That’s right, this car was big in Canada.

This baby’s still spitting fire from a 3.2-liter twin-turbo flat six with 600+ horsepower, but somehow the team at Lanzante Motorsports fully restored her in such a way as to make her street legal, the only one of her racing siblings with such papers. Whatever they did, they spent $300,000 to do it, and then they only ran her for two hours afterwards.

Hopefully the new owner will drive her a little more than that. Preferably after a boat load of driving lessons though.
