When the Porsche 911 For Sale Isn’t Even a Porsche 911

The word “rebuild” can mean a few different things when it comes to used-car advertisements. Maybe it means the exterior was completely redone. Or maybe the engine or transmission wasn’t in working order, so they were rebuilt. Or, in the case of this ridiculous “Porsche 911” being advertised on Craigslist, it means tearing out the heart and soul of a vehicle and replacing it with some bull dung.

Here’s all the ad says:

“This is a complete rebuild. It has a custom tube chassis to replace the original unibody frame. It has a Corvair engine and transmission which runs great. Call and we will make an appointment for you to come look at it. I do not know what it is worth but it is insured for more than I am asking. I will entertain all offers.”

Basically, the only thing Porsche 911 about it is the shell. And yet the only thing the seller offers as to why are two sentences about the “improvements” he’s done to it. Solid marketing.

Here’s a tip for all you sellers out there, as well: don’t say you don’t know how much the car is worth when you’re trying to sell it. That makes no sense. The ad ends with, “I will entertain all offers.” Well, how’s $20 sound?
