Porsche 911 Cabriolet Up for Auction in British Future Classics Sale
2003 911 Turbo S Tiptronic joins selection of 1990s and 2000s cars in Leamington Spa for Classic Car Auctions affair May 25.
When one thinks of classic Porsches, thoughts float to visions of 356 Spyders, 935 flatnoses, and air-cooled Carreras. A Porsche from the Turn of the Millennium, though? They may not feel like it now, but such cars are on their way to become future classics.
Such is the case for this 2003 Porsche 996 911 Turbo S Tiptronic Cabriolet we found the other day up for auction at the Classic Car Auctions May Sale, held on the grounds of the Warwickshire Event Centre in Leamington Spa, England May 25.
The current owner of this Basalt Black 996 Turbo S cabriolet has had the car since 2011, and clearly has given it the attention it deserves. It has all of its original books and documentation, and has around 41,000 miles on the odometer.
The 996 is a black-on-black affair, with a black leather interior in excellent condition, and a car phone that likely doesn’t work anymore due to advances in telecommunications, but is pretty cool to show off at the next car show.
Out back, the 3.6-liter turbo flat-six makes 450 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque with the help of a 30-horsepower upgrade via new intercoolers and a reflashed ECU. All of that pushes the 996 Turbo S from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, topping out at 191 mph.
“It is very exciting to see some of these cars coming through as future classics, like the Lotus Carlton and we always love a Porsche and BMW M3,” said CCA auction manager Gary Dunne.” It’s going to be a great sale and hope to build on the huge success of our last auction at the NEC in March.â€
The 2003 996 Turbo S cab joins other current and future classics from the Nineties and the Turn of the Millennium, including the aforementioned 1990 and 2003 BMW M3s, and the 1993 Lotus Carlton.
