For the Phonetically Challenged, Porsche Offers Lesson in Pronunciation

I can’t imagine any of you here at Rennlist has ever had trouble pronouncing the name of your own car, but just in case, Porsche has you covered.

That’s Por / sche, mind you. Two syllables.

In case this seems like completely obvious information, don’t blame me — blame Porsche themselves. As they’re the ones who apparently thought the below public service announcement was a necessity. Perhaps they’re just sick and tired of Americans mispronouncing the venerable marque’s proper name. Not like it seems to be affecting sales.

Still, you can’t blame Por / sche, can you? I mean, as someone’s whose last name is frequently confused for crackling candy rocks that pop in one’s mouth, I can certainly appreciate how annoying it is to be so thoroughly misnomered. But I’ve never made a video to correct folks about it.

Whatever, it’s not like the video below can hurt. If anything, it just gets more people properly saying Porsche’s prestigious name out loud. And as the more than 650,000 views can attest to, people do seem to be eating up such vital information.

Though I’m sure none of you fine enthusiasts are to blame for such a marketing device, have you ever met someone who has thoroughly butchered the good Porsche name? If it happens in the future, be sure to direct them here. Because words matter.
