Miami Blue 911 S Gets Hot Lapped For Motor Trend’s BDC 2016
Motor Trend’s Best Driver’s Car 2016 competition just wrapped up, and that means there are a pile of amazing videos currently occupying their YouTube channel. One of those pieces of video magic, shown below, happens to feature some hot lapping of a 2017 911 Carrera S in that stunning shade of Miami Blue. Since Porsche has won the BDC competition two out of the last three years, there were high hopes for Stuttgart to manage another notch in its belt.
To prepare a case for the new turbocharged 911 that is not a Turbo, resident hot shoe Randy Pobst strapped into the driver’s seat and proceeded to beat the 911 S around Laguna Seca. In his in-car commentary he talks about how great the brakes are, how precise it is on track, and how well it puts down the power. Pobst also smiles, giggles, and chuckles a far bit too. You can tell he’s having fun. His best comment of the video comes near the end: “I had no sense it was a turbo engine. It just felt like a 911.”
