Check Out Matt Farah’s Rare 1987 911 Carrera! (Video)

Finding a rare G-Body 911 is difficult, but YouTuber Matt Farah found a gem of a 1987 911 in Cassis Red Metallic and just had to buy it.

The late G-Body 911 Carrera from 1987-1989 is the best of the breed. Porsche had been making the same chassis since 1978. By 1987 the Carrera had all the improvements they made, including the amazing G50 transmission. These final Carreras tend to sell for more then the early 3.2 liter cars. The most popular colors are simple blacks, whites, silvers, and in the case of 911s Guards Red. So, when you go looking to buy a late G-Body 911, these are the colors that are the easiest to find.

Now, The Smoking Tire‘s Matt Farah, who was looking for the right air-cooled 911 to add to his fleet, recently drove a Safari 911 built by Leh Keen. This is a 911 in the style of the Safari rally cars, which means it has big off-road tires, skid plates, and it goes sideways in the dirt very well. After driving one, Farah had to get one of his own. He bought a 1987 911 in the rare Cassis Red Metallic, which he will be keeping on the car as it gets the full Safari treatment from Keen. Can’t wait to see the final results!
