Installing Aluminum Racing Pedals on a 993

The stock rubber pedal sets on the 993 are known to wear and get slippery. A metal pedal is the perfect lifetime solution.

The interior of a 993 is a nice place to be. This particular styling made Porsche renown for their simplicity and care in designing a cabin. The driver-focused space was emphasized by the 5 individual gauges for the instrument cluster with the huge central tachometer.  While it wasn’t particularly flashy for its time, the interior has aged very well. Even today it has a certain level of class that modern cluttered interiors can’t replicate.

If there was one thing we would want to phase out or upgrade out of the 993 interior, it would without a doubt be the pedals. They definitely were not as much as a premium product compared to the rest of the interior. The stock rubber pedals didn’t provide the best feedback nor did they last very long. Consider that some 993s are now 25+ years old. Those rubber pedals even with a few years of use start to lose their grip. 20 years down the line, they essentially turned into slip and slides.

This is where we turn to the aftermarket. Thankfully, there is a variety of companies that sell solutions for this very problem. A set of aluminum racing pedals is something you can install in a day and you’ll never have to worry about ever again. Thanks to Rennlist user Foxman, we get a good install guide and some critical do’s and don’ts he gained from his experience with the install.

To start, he stated that he took for granted the aftermarket aluminum pedal setup the previous owner had installed in his previous 993. When he purchased a C2S to replace that 993, it had the stock pedals and he instantly missed his old pedals. He then opted for a set for Ultimate Pedals deluxe pedal set, which includes a replacement for the stock leather dead pedal.

After doing the install, Foxman also noticed some specific tips that may help future or current 993 owners during their upgrade. We highly suggest checking out the original post for these tips if this install is on your to-do list. If it isn’t on your to-do list, you should definitely put it on, because these pedals make that big a difference in feel. If being safer and have a quality product is something that interests you, check out a set of pedals for your 993 today!
