Goodwood Joins Daytona Historics for Vintage Racing Nirvana

Goodwood invades HSR Classic 24 Hours at Daytona, Nov. 8-12.

Sure, modern racing is cool and all. The high-tech wizardry powering today’s motorsports rides is nothing short of amazing, and the competition is as fierce as ever. But there’s just something about vintage racing that makes us tingly all over. You could argue that the these historic cars, sans things like limiters and fancy electronic gizmos, represent an era that will never be topped.

Goodwood

That’s why we love events like the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the HSR 24 Hours of Daytona, after all. They allow us to continue to admire and celebrate the golden era of motorsports. And the best part is, these nearly priceless pieces of machinery aren’t just displayed in some sort of hermetically sealed chamber. They’re out on the track, tearing it up like the old days.

Goodwood

So, you know when Goodwood invades the Classic 24 Hour and Daytona Historics race, it’s going to be epic. And that’s exactly what’s going down at Daytona International Speedway on November 8-12. It’s going to be a long weekend chock full of gorgeous vintage iron and racing action. And the field is incredibly vast, ranging from Trans Am racers to our personal favorite: Group C.

Goodwood

Obviously, these precious pieces of vintage machinery aren’t going to duke it out for 24 hours each. Instead, all five period groups compete in one hour sessions, four times each, over the course of 24 hours beginning on Saturday. As each takes the checkered flag, the next group will be on the grid ready to roll. Leading up to Saturday’s main event are a series of qualifying and testing days. You can find the entire schedule here.

For those of us who are fans of both vintage racing and Porsche, the combination of Goodwood and the Classic 24 Hour is simply too good to miss.
