For Sale: 924 GTR Race Car, Never Been Raced
If you’re in the market for a unique Porsche, Lot 156A in Coys’ upcoming “Legende Et Passion” auction is the car for you.
This 1981 Porsche 924 Carrera GTR race car is one of just 17 ever built, and unlike most of those, this one has never been raced. In fact, it’s barely been driven at all by the only owner; this baby’s got just about 65 original miles to date.
What a shame too, cause it sounds like a blast to drive. This 930-kilo speed demon gets serious power from its highly modified 2.0l motor. We’re talking 375 bhp and 299 lb/ft of torque, which propels her to 180 mph, for a 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds.
Intrigued? Then you better bring your checkbook on May 14th, when this rare bird hits the auction block in Monaco. Back in 1981, the price tag was a cool $75k, and you can bet she’ll fetch plenty more this weekend. Bradley Brownell of Flatsixes.com expects the car to set a new 924 auction record.
“There is no doubt in my mind that this is the absolute pinnacle of 924 development,” writes Brownell. And considering some of the impressive 924s we’ve highlighted around here, that’s truly saying something.
