Radical Red Bull RB17 hypercar brings Formula 1 wings to the road, and a touch of finesse.
Not exactly Porsche content, but what could have been! This is certainly worth a look though. This is what happens when the Formula 1 World Champions hand the best F1 designer on the block a clean sheet and tell him to come up with the ultimate street car. Enter the Red Bull RB17.
Producing more than 1,200 HP and weighing it at under 900 kg, the RB17 transfers all that to the road via the rear wheels and a carbon fibre gearbox. Promised to deliver ‘Formula 1 equivalent’ lap times and top speeds in excess of 220 mph, while still remaining easy to own and operate, only 50 one-of-a-kind RB17s will ever be sold.
RB17 is Adrian Newey’s Final Red Bull Project
The final Red Bull car to be designed by the team’s outgoing F1 guru Adrian Newey, Red Bull Advanced Technologies will take care of every step of RB17 development. Everything from initial concept through to designing and building the Hypercar and also customer delivery will be catered for in-house.
Delivery will be an unforgettable journey including driver development, tailoring the car to individual needs and first hand track experiences on the greatest circuits on earth. Every RB17 will be bespoke. Owners can custom specify everything from paint colour to cockpit materials, down to every smallest detail. Price? Don’t ask!
“I’d been mulling around the idea to take on the challenge to design our own hypercar,†Red Bull Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey admits. “It’s been a magnificent project and journey over many years from concept to delivery, so it is truly remarkable to finally pull the covers off the RB17.
