DuPont Registry Lists 911 R For Outrageous Price
The good folks at Dupont Registry are fairly well known for jacking up prices, sometimes to a staggering degree. Just check their Instagram feed — it is full of angry comments from people who would have never bought the car to begin with.
I digress, let’s get to what is important here: Dupont has just listed a Porsche 911 R for how much? Nope… you’re wrong. $699,000 is the answer.
Let that sink in. A 911 R — which, granted is awesome in just about every measurable way, has an MSRP of around $185,000. Porsche sold out of the limited edition model immediately, but this still seems a bit steep. According the listing, it will be among the first 911 Rs in the country, however no mention of whether or not the car comes equipped with a briefcase filled with the nearly half-million dollar price discrepancy. The listing also rather hilariously shows that the monthly payment would be an eye-watering $6,817 per month.
Specialty 911s always draw superhero size price tags when new. The GT3 RS was not too long ago fetching near $500K for its naturally-aspirated excellence. Speaking of, the 911 R uses the same power plant, paired to a manual transmission. This is just one of many features making it the most special model of the 991 generation. The car is destined to be collector car-worthy in a matter of years, but if you want to be among the first to jump on that opportunity, it is going to cost you.
