Debating the Value of the Porsche 991.1 GT3 RS

991.1 GT3 RS

Right now, the 991.1 GT3 RS is a veritable bargain. But should it be?

Call it the power of the manual. But when Porsche decided to listen to the enthusiast masses (read: us) and once again offer the 911 GT3 with a manual transmission, a lot of things changed. The formerly awesome 991.1 GT3, offered only with a PDK, was suddenly not as desirable. Especially when you consider the fact that the plain ‘ol .2 produces the same horsepower as the outgoing .1 GT3 RS.

Of course, the opportunist who doesn’t necessarily covet a manual transmission might see this as a prime opportunity to buy a 991.1 GT3 RS. Which is why Rennlister drdonger started this thread with a simple lead on what looked like a screaming deal.

This looks like a great deal. I’m still picking up my manual .2 GT3 though. If anyone is interested, contact Jeff Van Sicklen at Park Place and tell them Chris D referred you.”

Despite many wondering if those 5,000 miles were accumulated on the track, few can deny that this is (was) a great deal at just under $205k. Including 786.

“Great looking car, local too. Any lower and these would be tough to ignore over a .2 GT3.”

As we’ve already learned with the 911R, however, Porsche’s future decisions could impact the currently market.

“Once the .2 RS comes out confirmed as a PDK (for those holding out hope for 6 speed) + the sky high ADMs/Temple of Doom style course you need to endure to get an allocation, I bet the 991.1 GT3 RS market will pick up a bit,” said sampelligrino.

Plus, things change fast in the supercar market, as Jimmy-D points out.

“I am not surprised that the .1 RS is at MSRP or slightly below. Did people really think these would continue to command a premium??? It is no longer the ‘latest and greatest,’ and that is what happens. Everyone jumped out paying stupid premiums because they thought it would be the last N/A RS. Those that paid the ADMS should have known that nothing is a guarantee.”
