From McQueen to McDreamy: Five Celebrity Porsche Racers—Track Time Tuesday Presented by Yokohama Tire’s ADVAN APEX
Steve McQueenÂ
Steve McQueen. There may be no one better suited to the nickname “King of Cool.” McQueen was a multi-talented actor, ladies’ man, mans’ man, and easily the coolest cat in any room. Plus, he was a talented hellraiser behind the wheel–and in general.
McQueen was a lifelong gearhead, and amassed a collection of cars that makes us weak in the knees. His 1970 Porsche 911 S pictured above is just one of the especially stunning Porsches he owned.
He was passionate about car and motorcycle racing, and competed in both. He was as hardcore as they come, finishing second at 12 Hours of Sebring while driving with a broken foot. Yeah, McQueen was the real deal. He did his own stunts, he shot an eponymous film about Le Mans, and remained a very active part of the automotive and racing community all the days of his life.
Perhaps no one said it better than McQueen: “Racing is life. Anything before or after is just waiting.”
