Cayman GT4 Checks All the Boxes a Good Sports Car Should
It may not be as flashy or as fast as some other cars, but few can match Porsche’s Cayman GT4 in terms of sheer driving pleasure.
It’s really no secret that the Porsche Cayman GT4 is one of the best sports cars on the market today. It’s a purely satisfying driving machine, combining excellent handling dynamics with a glorious flat-six powerplant and a mechanically pleasing manual transmission. If you appreciate the art of driving, this is Porsche’s love letter to you. And after watching this video from YouTuber DeanDMB, we’re reminded of why the Cayman GT4 is so great.
Of course, DeanDMB might be a little biased since he was working for Porsche when the original Cayman came out. “I found myself jumping straight into the car,” he said. “The way the car handled was just so impressive.” Luckily, the new GT4 is even more so thanks to the return of flat-six power. “The sound of this car is intoxicating,” our host notes. “It’s not blisteringly fast, but you can utilize all this car’s power. To me, it’s just enough power for what you need on these roads.”
This particular Cayman GT4 is equipped with the Club Sport Pack, so it’s got racing harnesses and grippy seats. But as DeanDMB points out, it’s also quite practical for use off the track, too. “It’s got two trunks, so it’s actually a very, very practical car. You’ll be surprised how much gear you can actually get in this.” And you’re going to want to take the Cayman GT4 cross country, because it really is that fantastic to drive.
“This is really a proper driver’s car,” our host says. “It basically makes you feel like a racing driver. But they’re so easy to drive. The steering is nicely weighted and balanced. The visibility is very good. And they certainly are a lot of car for the money.”
It’s obviously hard to argue with any of those points. To us, the Cayman GT4 is one of the last and very best pure driving machines on the planet. And that fact alone makes it worth all the praise one can lavish upon it. It may not be the fastest, newest, or flashiest car out there, but few others can match the sheer pleasure the Cayman GT4 gives you when you’re behind the wheel.
