A Singer 911 Is the Only Dream Car You Need Says ‘Carfection’

This ultimate Singer 911 build showcases its speed, beauty and sound in the hills of Los Angeles.

The Porsche 911 modified by Singer is perfect. The end. Honestly, there is not much more to say, the car is really that good. However, to keep this from being the shortest article in history, let’s take a closer look at how this car lives up to the hype. Henry Catchpole from the Carfection YouTube channel recently had the chance to enjoy a Singer 911 on some beautiful and empty California roads. He comes away thinking that if he could only choose one car to fill his fictional dream garage that this would be it.

Rob Dickinson was in an English rock band during the 1990s, before deciding to pursue his other passion, which was the Porsche 911. He founded Singer Vehicle Design and has been turning out bespoke masterpieces ever since. The cars are not just stunning to look at but have the performance to back it up. This specific car was built to be the ultimate performer. It comes outfitted with the top spec 390 horsepower 4.0L flat-six, paired to a close ratio 6 speed transmission. The car also rides on the optional sport suspension and carbon ceramic brakes. The result is a car that can rocket to 60 mph in just over 3 seconds and handle and brake like a modern super car.

It is not the outright performance numbers that makes this car so special. It is the way the car communicates with the driver providing a level of feedback that is lacking in many modern cars. As Catchpole says, “Even when driving at only six tenths this is a car that talks to you. You can enjoy the way the weight moves around and you can use the weight.” The car doesn’t overwhelm and become a monster to drive. According to Catchpole the car feels really friendly and it is quite possible to live with it every single day.

So is this car really perfect? The only criticisms that Catchpole could aim at the Singer were that he didn’t like the design of the side mirrors and that he felt the engine was a bit too smooth. The power delivery was so linear that he would have preferred if it was perhaps a bit more rough and snarly. When those are the only negatives that you can find, you have to admit you are getting darn close to perfection. It is a usable yet special car. Once you get behind the wheel and head out for a drive, you don’t want the day to end.

You don’t have to be a rock star like Dickinson to buy one of these, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt. To have a 911 reimagined by Singer will cost at least a half-million dollars and the car reviewed here is well into seven-digit territory. While these vehicles will remain lottery dream cars for most of us, it certainly makes the dreams more exciting. For those fortunate enough to be able to park one of these in your garage, thank you for taking the time to read this, now get out there and drive it.
