Blower Bentley V8 Powered 911T Is Quite a Thing to Look At

Almost nothing original is left of this 1971 Porsche 911T, but now it has an exposed Bentley V8, and for some reason, a semi-truck rear axle.

Changing a Porsche requires a careful touch. It has to be done right, otherwise it could just feel a bit odd. It’s likely why Porsche themselves haven’t changed much on the 911. Relentlessly following their original idea of a rear-engine sports car has led to a refined design. Alexandre Danton has other ideas though. And they’re out there.

There’s not much left of the 1971 911T that Danton used as the basis for this rat rod, as we found on CarScoops. The doors, rear quarters, and engine lid are just about all that we can identify. That bodywork was placed on a completely different chassis, as evidenced by the frame rails seen at the front end of the car. Think of it then as a rat rod truck with a Porsche body.

Picking a new frame made options wide open for power, but the rear engine configuration is no longer feasible. Again, Danton thought outside of the box. It does make more power than the original, however. The 6.75-liter V8 is graced by a turbo and makes 328 horsepower. It was plucked from a Bentley Mulsanne Turbo, making an unusual connection back to Porsche and Le Mans.

Peek a little closer and you can see the frame likely came from a truck, given the 10-bolt rear axle. Honestly, given all of the safari edition Porsche 911s out there, we’re surprised it didn’t get a dually rear end. But maybe that’s for the next owner.

This Bentley-911’s nice interior was ditched in favor of a spartan, minimalistic one. Less like the Singer which is beautiful in its minimalism, but more so just the basics to make it work. It’s also worth noting that the car isn’t really exactly legal to drive anywhere. So it’s a toy. And not even a track legal fun toy, so we’re not really sure what the purpose is. The price reflects that. Bonhams expects it to cross their auction block at less than $14,000.
