991 911 Turbo S Runs 9 Second 1/4 Miles Like It’s Nothing

By -

747 WHP from a By Design Stage 4 Kit sends this 991 Turbo S to the moon and back.

When a video begins with a Turbo S bouncing the rev-limiter into launch mode, you know its going to be a crazy video. The 991 Turbo S redefined what it meant to have quick acceleration time. From the factory, this 911 was shooting down 2.8 second 0-to-60 times without issue, that put in within the top 10 fastest accelerating cars of all time. Can you imagine how much it would come to life with a little bit of modification?

Thanks to That Racing Channel, we get to see exactly that, a modified 2016 991 Turbo S made for excellence at the drag strip. When the guys at drag racing specific YouTube channel say its “easily the hardest launching car I’ve been in”, you know that’s a quick car.

This beautiful Porsche is owned by Richard Martin and it has a host of modifications to help it run quicker lap times. The first is a bit of suspension work with H&R Springs alongside beautiful custom HRE wheels wrapped in Toyo R888R 325/30/20 rubber. The next is a Titanium Boostlogic exhaust which really allows those turbos to sing and only weighs 4 lbs. As you’ll hear in the video, the amount of spool you hear from this car is incredible.

However, the real power is result of the By Design Stage 4 kit, which offers a cool 747 WHP via their own intercoolers, turbos, methanol injection, and custom tune, along with a IPD intake, and plenum. In addition, the PDK is tuned via a Cobb Accessport for faster and more aggressive shifts. For some weigh reduction, Richard chose an Antigravity battery, which saves around 35 lbs from the car’s overall weight.

These are some of the modifications which allow this particular Porsche to run incredible times at the strip. To start, this Turbo S now runs 0-to-60 in 2.1 seconds. That’s faster than any production car on the road right now, even the Porsche 918 Spyder. It also runs 9 second 1/4 miles and the half mile at over 180+ mph. This means the car gets banned from mostly every drag strip for being too fast without a roll cage.

As fast as this car is in a straight line, Richard has taken it to multiple road-racing events and has had no issues whatsoever. We really like this car’s build and we think it was done in a particularly clean fashion. If you want to see some amazing launches off the line and more content related to the car, please watch the full video, it’s really worth it.
