Caged and ready to rock, this 911 964 Carrera RS Clubsport up for auction is a rare and gorgeous part of Porsche motorsports heritage.

We’ve seen plenty of astonishing pieces of Porsche history appear on online auction sites. Every once in a while, though, something hits the auction block that takes your breath away. Whether you’re a new Porsche enthusiast or you think you’ve seen it all, a 964 RS Clubsport will stop you right in your tracks. This is the pinnacle of performance in 964 form. As one might expect, it comes with quite a price tag. In addition, though we absolutely love this color, it’s not going to suit everyone’s tastes.

This 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Clubsport is currently for sale on the auction powerhouse Bring A Trailer. At the time of writing, the bid is north of $225,000, with over eight days remaining to get bids in. If that number already scares you a bit, you’re going to want to look away as the bids continue to roll in. If you can manage to take your eyes off the auction, though, we’ll applaud your strength because the color and pure awesomeness of this powerful pink Clubsport has our eyes locked on the screen.

Okay, You Got Us, It’s Not Pink…Technically.

Porsche enthusiasts will be quick to point out that, while this is indeed a factory color, it’s not pink. It’s “Rubystone Red,” by Porsche’s very own designation. Let’s all be honest here, though. That is very obviously pink. It’s fine for it to be pink, too. It’s awesome. But it’s pink.

It’s a pretty rare color, but not nearly as rare as a Clubsport. For those unfamiliar, the RS Clubsport is the hardcore track-ready variant of the 911 that came with the 964 generation. That roll cage you’re seeing is indeed a factory installation. In addition, the RS Clubsport comes with a seam-welded chassis, fixed-back Recaro bucket seats, racing harnesses, ultra-lightweight Magnesium wheels, and even a fire suppression system. All from the factory!

This isn’t just a fun weekend track toy. It’s a dedicated race car!

Plenty of Power to Back up the Equipment

The M64/03 flat-six engine in the 964 RS Clubsport comes with a lightened flywheel from the factory. With 256 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque, it outclasses the standard Carrera by nine horsepower and 11 pound-feet of torque. Power makes its way from the engine through the five-speed manual transaxle and sends the power to the rear wheels courtesy of a limited-slip differential.

Making sure all the power is useful is a set of fully adjustable Bilstein coilovers and four-piston calipers with cross-drilled rotors. Michelin Pilot Sport tires wrap around the magnesium 17-inch wheels to ensure this Porsche delivers the legendary handling characteristics of the already phenomenal 964 platform.

With such pedigree, we wouldn’t at all be surprised to see this gorgeous slab or Porsche motorsport history kiss the half-million-dollar threshold. While it’s certainly out of our price range, it’s definitely worth taking some time to look at and appreciate. After all, you’re not likely to see another RS Clubsport pop up any time soon. In addition, you can almost guarantee it won’t be in Rubsytone Red!
