Pikes Peak is not only a race against time and yourself, but a race against the natural elements. The road reaches 14,110 feet high, it’s 12.42 miles long, and you face 156 turns (most without any type of guard rails) at a 7.2 percent grade. In the summer, the rangers even check passenger cars’ brake temperatures midway through to make sure nobody’s is going to lose ability on the way down one of Colorado’s most famous fourteeners.

Only 13 drivers have ever made it up the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in less than 10 minutes. Jeff Zwart is the most recent addition to that exclusive club. His previous career best time was 00:10:01.917, but this time, he had a Porsche 911 GT3 Turbo Cup car at his hands and feet to challenge that barrier.

GoPro released an epic video today of our run up Pikes Peak this year! Check it out on GoPro’s YouTube channel : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQFXgjOWX-8 Thanks to the whole team at GoPro for such great cameras and an amazing edit to allow this unique view of this fantastic event.

With help on the GT3 from BBI Autosport and Emotion Engineering, the Turbo was pushing around 800 horsepower. At the end of the race, he’d crushed the 10-minute mark with a final time of 00:09:46.243. Now check out the run from his perspective in the GoPro video below.
