Default Porsche 964 owners - need help ASAP

Hey guys.

I have been in the process of having my stage 1 turbo fine tuned. The car runs extremely well in wot but below 3k its a little choppy.

We have come to the conclusion the my AFM is acting up. I will be changing mine out and converting to the 993 TT MAF next week sometime so we can fine tune it to my car.

I tried cleaning the AFM last night to no avail and think I may have made it worse.

Does anyone have a spare factory AFM I could borrow for a week or two till I get my conversion?

I do not want to take the chance leaning out my car.

Any help is seriously appreciated.

Jeff

Jeff,

Part# 964 606 050 00

It is the part that attaches to the stock 964 intake. The metal piece removes from your intake. That is exactly what I need.

I will have a look when I get home, but it does not look familiar (car came with a bunch of spares that I have not looked at in 2 years)

What about calling Randy at whale tail. Might be able to pick up a cheap one. Worth a try.

Just a thought - did you make sure the little vacuum line at the back of the box is connected?

I have done the AFM fix several times on my 944s, its the same idea on the 964. Bring it by Monday evening and we'll open it up and fixit if you want.

RK, I made a cardinal rule mistake opening it up. I was not able to pry the arm off and I removed the screw to try to bend the tabs to hit a new location on the sweeper strip. I really took things out of balance. I tried getting it back to the exact spot with no luck.

what too do next?

Stig,

There was no vac line on the back of the AFM. I wonder if this was my problem all along? I did not see any place for a vac line at all. I can take a look tonight to check.

You typically don't need/want to remove the arm - you just bend the arm to get the contacts onto a fresh part of the conductive substrate.

Where are you? want to try to sort it out tonight?
