Bead sealer is like black rubber cement and it is slippery. So mount tire with it wet just like using soapy water. Seat bead and wipe off excess. It will dry and the tire will not move. I use brake cleaner on the beads to clean them before i mount. Cheap hairspray is cheaper at Target so I use that unless I got a stuborn tire. I got my own machine so I flip and remount tires all the time. I never balance them I only balance the wheels. My tires never move and currently I'm on hoosiers for my class in a 3200lb car and we brake hard. 1 day rotor life and 2 day pad life and 4-6 races on the calipers are all we get on SCCA T1 vettes and tries do not move. I use a combo of CCW's and stock OEM wheels so there is nothing special there.

FBB, if you only balance the wheels (like I do) why worry if the tire moves or not?

I watched a set move so bad that one of the rears spun the rim on the bead and melted the bead.

In Landjet defense racers don't drive the same tires on the street. An out of balance wide low profile tire on a street driven 911 is a real chore. It makes the Madagascar cinammon sprinkeled lowfat foam on your Starbucks fall and mix in the the coffee.

I would give my left nut to have a car powerful enough to have this problem

Well, because it is so easy to control and i do not think tires should move on wheels. For us in SCCA races are won and lost on tenth's and i need everything I can get. If a tire slips on every deceleration and acceleration that is motion you are not controling. I have a hard enough time with all the other issues of racing just using hairspray or beadsealer to mount is just plain easy since I own my own machine.

I'm not sure the rotation is enough to affect your lap times. Man those SCCA guys take themselves way too seriously

I bought a can of X-tra Seal and will give it a try.

My next set of tires I'll try the Nitto NT-01's.

Then it becomes an alignment issue.

Sorry to dredge this old thread up, but I wanted to get some clarification on mounting an R-Comp (Nitto NT-01) and then running on it within ~ 12 hours or so..

From looking at the above posts it seams the consensus is:

- Balance the Rim w/o tire
- Clean the rim and tire of any soap, etc.
- Mount with HairSpray (Is there a better brand than others? and/or Aerosol over spray)
- Balance again with tire on rim
- Inflate to 40psi and leave for as long as possible

My final question is probably obvious, but I'd assume there is a less likelihood of having rotation issues when these are the rears being mounted and ran w/i a relatively short amount of time.

What say you?

I fixed my tire creeping issue by having my CCW rims bead blasted and the tire mounted dry.
