918 Spyder vs Mclaren P1 review + Aston Martin Vulcan
today was one of those bucket list days.. or like a childhood dream you wake up from and realize is true.
thanks to the magnanimous (and brave!) heart of a good friend, today I was able to experience a 918 Spyder at Road Atlanta as well as a very special Mclaren P1 validation prototype, which had barely 500 miles on it. I'm posting the videos which are more fun-loving than serious... we were there for the Aston Martin Vulcan ride-a-longs, so in deference to Aston's employees we didn't try to pass the Vulcan, nor the Vantage V12 S.. it made for a very slow and pointless few laps.. but fun nonetheless.
One thought about my friend.. he's that incredibly special gearhead.. who possesses amazing cars not for "collection" or "appreciation".. but truly to enjoy and share... one of a kin
we drove the 918 from atlanta to road atlanta, but drove the p1 on the way back.. i had quite a bit of time in the 918 at the track previously, but had never driven the p1. My younger brother and I decided to make a tongue in cheek parody of Salomondrin's LTACY (Lets talk about cars yo).. we were having fun with it while we reveled in the truly awesome experience which the P1 provides.
getting to chat with Randy Pobst was also really cool... that guy really gets it.
anyway... take it with a grain of salt.. all in good fun>
lastly.. a few videos of the Vulcan at Speed

I think we have a mutual acquaintance. Ironically, my boss was just telling me about a 918 and P1 at Road Atlanta... you should tell Derek to get off his butt take his 918 to the track too.

Wow! Dream day at the track for sure, Alessandro--bucket list experience for anyone into cars. You should have just passed the Astons, though....

beautiful.. but not impressive. pointless on track, not competitive and not desirable compared with others of it's kind (FXX et al, Zonda R etc).. in fact Aston was pimping it as an entry point to gain access to their REALLY interesting upcoming hypercar designed by Newey.
