918 in Factory Gulf Livery for Sale...
One of the original Gulf livery painted from the factory with matching interior piping and luggage is for sale at DuPont registry! I am certain the price is a hefty premium for all the customization done by the factory and unique value of the car! But damn it is nice looking!

How's this work regarding using the name "Gulf"? Just curious. Do you have to get some sort of approval from Gulf?
Again, simply curious in today's happy litigation world.

Canadian Vaughn Wyant to get a license from Gulf Oil to use their
colors & logos on their particular Porsche factory-painted 918s.
Rennlister 'crisis' reported what he heard when Wyant revealed his
two 'Gulf' livery 918s at Porsche Centre of Saskatoon back on 8/27:
'The owner of the dealership, Vaughn Wyant, went into quite a bit of
detail about the ordeal he had to go through with Porsche and Gulf to
be able to get the cars painted in the Gulf Racing scheme. He initially
approached the President of Porsche Canada, who went to Porsche
AG with the request. The reply was "if you can get approval from Gulf,
we will build them for you. But you will never get it approved." Turns
out that the approval from Gulf wasn't really all that difficult, and after
some back & forth with Porsche, they agreed to build them as requested.'

Resurrecting a ~2 week old thread...
Anyone know the VIN of this car (I want to dig up the build sheet to see how some of the customizations were encoded)?
Thanks!

if you get the number of the car (out of 918), you can back your way into the VIN that way: last 3 digits of the VIN match number of the car.

Sadly, I'm not able to extrapolate the VIN from the chassis #'s that I have of the two cars that are at this dealership (one for sale, one he's keeping). I have a handful of 918 Spyder VIN prefixes, but none of them work for the chassis #.
