Congratulations! I would strongly suggest trying to attend a couple of events, and doing a factory tour if possible. That make some of your decisions much easier by seeing them in the flesh. As I have learned and from other members on this forum you need to ask a lot of questions and do not assume anything concerning options and deletions. Talk with David Donohue and others assigned to the project, they are here to help and don't worry about being a pain to them you are paying big money. Good luck!

I am going with a "basic" clean look.
I have driven the car in Chicago on the track and once on streets in my local town. The car is unreal.
Thoughts on the build:
White exterior
Standard wheels
Carbon fiber outside mirrors
Lift
Carbon fiber mats w acid green piping
Seat belts with acid green accents
Carbon fiber interior
Alcantara steering wheel, seat pad and glove box bin
Note i passed on external carbon wing and of course the was package.

I am pretty excited.
I think this one is going to be a real winner. If you look at the 918 vs the la ferrari vs the mclaren I think the 918 does beat them all. its actually cheaper as well!!!!!

i have one on order as well. Interestingly, I ordered about 6 weeks ago (UK), and was told April/May for delivery.
Currently waiting for confirmation of dates for Stuttgart trip to spec. I have finally decided to go for blue, or red, or black, or silver, or white... And with or without authentic leather.
(But definitely carbon roof/spoiler, and no Weissach - it's not a track car for me, and even if it was, then the difference will be negligible for the price, and I prefer the 'standard' wheels which are massively cheaper)

I have seen it in person. My opinion is this....
Cf roof messes up the lines of the vehicle unless its a was package since the pillar would be in cf..
i did cf mirrors, not spolier. i think either looks fine
authentic leather is better but not worth money
definitely standard wheels
pm me if you want to discuss live.

Best way to choose the leather is head to the dealer and do a blind sampling of the leather samples.
And April builds sounds about right consider the number of cars sold.
Mine will be completed the week of Sept 14th, it will the 192th car built. swb3's car will be 411th and we calculated that it should be built around the week of Nov 30th.
Porsche is at max production rate for the 918 right now, so 20 cars a week. Simple addition of numbers means by the 1st week of April they would have build 770 cars. The whole run of 918 cars would have been completely by the end of May 2015.

For the anti-glare option, the dealer's ordering guide says the matted carbon will means forgoing the coloured accent strip, but that is not the case, you can request to have the colour strip added back.
Painted key option entitled you to get a customized leather case also. The leather panels can be optioned however you want, it will have 4 parts that can be customized, the main leather panel, the piping around it, the little leather flap latch and the round button. I have my keys painted acid green and black leather with acid green piping and acid green latch with black button for example.
