If the contract specifically says "non-refundable" and you agreed to it, you may be out of luck. The CA law does provide for refundable deposits unless stated otherwise in your contract.

ben,
It;s fine as long as I have it in the right gear. Which is not always the case.
BTW I know a friend who is a great attorney and has handled many car related matters for me and others in Chicago. If you want he or I could write a letter to the dealer or make a call to determine their postion as a courtesy rennlist member and fellow car guy freebie.

Just learned there is no intention to refund the deposit on the CGT. Apparently Porsche is willing to experience the negative publicity that is a suit based upon misrepresentation of the car's clutch. If this should take on a class action status, one would think it could get ugly for Porsche fairly quickly. Part of any campaign on my part will be to contact magazines, etc to let them know of my experience and those of other CGT owners - including the $125k repair bill resulting from the clutch.

It wasn't a $125k clutch repair bill. Rather it was a $125k rear end repair of the carbon fiber etc that resulted from the owner of the CGT stalling the car at take off from a light and getting rear ended. I thought the guy was just some poseur who didn't know how to drive until I drove it and quickly learned exactly how the guy stalled the car.
