19" Tire size question for 958—are 275/45/19 ok?
My current Michelin Latitude Tour HP tires are 265/50/19. I have the 19" turbo wheel option. The Tire Rack page matches this wheel to the 265/50 tire.
The local tire shop I usually use says they are back ordered and no idea when they will come in. Recommends the 275/45/19s and says they are also a Porsche Cayenne tire. Tire rack shows this size as an OE tire. But OE didn't include optional turbo wheels which I have. Maybe it's no big deal but I thought I better check with you guys before buying!
Any issues going with this size (275/45/19)?
Thank you!!

Thanks for the feedback, kosmo.
By shorter do you mean lower? How will the 285/45 differ (shorter still?). I'll have to check on availability.
As an aside, what are the ramifications of being .68 shorter?
Thanks for the assist!!

See the 275 is the width and the 45 is height (45% of width )
So the diameter of the tire will be smaller. Which is why 285/45 was suggested to keep the diameter closer to stock. Usually if you are gonna fudge diameter its better to go larger rather than smaller than stock. Like for instance on 955/957 (perhaps 958 idk) the stock diameter is 29". The transyberria cayenne runs 32's... Some members go bigger for a better offroad tire with more sidewall. So if you are gonna deviate go taller and not shorter than oem.

in theory, and shorter side wall will give you better handling but at the expense of ride quality.
BTW, i've always felt these tires are too narrow. I have 295s but on 21s.

Also if you are running smaller diameter your odometer will rack up slightly more miles than you actually travel given the increased revolutions. However it doesn't seem like a big enough difference to really sneeze at.
