Question about newly installed fabspeed exhaust
Well, I just received and installed the fabspeed mufflers on my '01 Carrera Coupe 3.4l.
My question is this, I drove around the block and I smelled what I thought may be plastic burning. When I stopped, I checked and the new mufflers were making a lot of the creaking you hear when metal cools off and there was quite a bit of smoke coming from inside the tips.
I kind of freaked out and rechecked all the clearances for fear maybe the muffler was touching the heat shield somewhere and possibly starting to melt my quarters. Everything is Ok.
I'm guessing this is just oil burning off from the production of the mufflers? Car is cooling off in the garage and I don't hear the smoke detector going off so I'm going to assume this is normal and will stop after a few runs???
Just kinda want some reassurance everything is normal.
Thanks,
Ken

You have to start the car...just kidding.
They absolutely sound awesome. Especially when you get into the pedal a little. I also put in a K&N air intake at the same time so that may have added to the sound.

To hear a more agressive exhaust note you need to couple the exhaust with a good air intake. Evoms V-flow is probably one of the best out there.

I have the fabspeed mufflers and cold air intake with k&n air filter on my 997. When I put the mufflers on I expected some drone, especially on the highway. There is no drone at all. I'm very happy with the sound and plan on doing fabspeed headers and cats.
