New 997.2 GT3 Owner
Greetings Rennlisters! I want to introduce myself as new member to the 997 GT3 community. My name is Steve, and I just purchased a 2010 GT3 from Doug at SwitchCars. (Huh, kinda sounds like an intro from an AA meeting).
First a quick plug for Doug...it was an absolute pleasure doing business with him. The car was exactly as represented, and Doug went out of his way to make me feel comfortable during the purchasing process. From arranging the initial viewing of the car over the holidays, to the pre-purchase inspection and negotiation process, and finally the closing and shipping, Doug was patient and professional. He answered all of my (many) calls and e-mails quickly during the whole process. He is extremely knowledgeable about these cars as well, so there was no BS.
A bit about my background: I am a Bosch Chassis Controls engineer with over 22 years of automotive engineering experience. I began doing track days back in 2002 with an E30 M3. In 2006 I sold the E30 and made the jump to SCCA club racing with a Honda CRX prepped for ITA. At the same time I began instructing with the BMWCCA, Windy City Region. The past 3 seasons I focused on Club Racing only. Last season I prepped the CRX for STL and ran SCCA Majors and competed at the SCCA Runoffs at Mid-Ohio. I finished 4th in STL in the Northern Conference Majors points, but was only able to achieve a mid-pack finish at the Ruboffs. I will most likely take a break from club racing this season to enjoy playing with my new toy.
The purchase of this car was a huge step for me, as it is BY FAR the most expensive automotive purchase of my life. I have been researching a variety of different performance cars for the past few years, but ultimately the 997.2 GT3 checked all the boxes for my “bucket list” car. Rennlist was my “go to” source for information about these cars.
The car I purchased is a stripper, with only the Arctic Silver paint, Bluetooth and audio interface as options. The DME report shows only 10 Range 1 overrevs and average speed around 19 mph. It has 19,400 miles and shows no evidence of track use. I haven’t decided if I will track the car (I still have my racecar), but one thing is for sure, I plan to drive the crap out of it and maintain it accordingly. The maintenance will be part of the enjoyment for me as I plan to do as much as I can with my own hands thanks to all of the great information provided by Rennlist and the rest of the Porsche community.
Thanks for listening - I’m very excited to be part of the community!

Congrats Steve! Welcome to the club!
Been really enjoying my .2 GT3 for the past 2 years, I'm sure you will as well!
Are the coolant lines done on the car? One of the biggest potential issues.
