5 lug to Centerlock conversion with PCCB
I know this is contrary to every piece of racecar wisdom over here, but hey, I don't race
I'm going to swap my 5 lug to Centerlocks on my 2007 Turbo. I don't track the car, have a set of wheels available to me for cheap, and really admire the look. I know the downsides, but am mechanically inclined, and don't mind.
Now that we got that out of the way, from researching all of the various options, it appears that the swap is most easily done by either finding a set from a PCCB car like mine or buying new. There are sets to buy on ebay, etc, but they all appear from iron rotor cars. Does it matter? A good RLer and I can do the swap, but he has iron rotors.
Would it make more sense to buy the kit new and have new parts (and part warranty) from Porsche, or piece it together and save a large amount of money? It's winter here in Ohio, and may well be til August of 2015 at this rate, so my car is mothballed.
Since this group probably has the most experience here, I thought I'd start in this forum. Thanks for any thoughts and if anyone has any parts lying around, I'll take them

Definitely buy new.
You will never know how much track time the pre-owned setup has.
Not even worth the time to ask the seller, as he probably will say his car has never seen rain.

Thanks guys. I picked up a set of HRE 19" CL40's here locally. I am having them refinished to Carrara White to match my car as we speak (they were satin black originally). They are 9" and 12" and RS offsets.
I have to decide on tires pretty soon, I'm leaning towards 245/35 and 325/30 MPSS.

I converted my 2010 GT3 from C/L to five-lug because mine is primarily a track car. I have a complete set of parts that are trusted and will save you a lot of money. Regarding the hubs, I agree that you should get new; I have a set that have very low total/track hours, but the the inner bearing races are still on them, and the races are difficult to remove without damaging the hubs. That said, you can have them for only the cost of shipping and if you're able to use them just send $100 later; honor system.
As for the other hardware, including the the four C/L locking mechanisms, four C/L nuts and 20 centering pins, those are all in excellent condition, safe and would save you a good bit of money. Please send an email to redrsa<at>hotmail<dot>com for photos.

Scott, nice to see another person from Cincy on here. Sounds like you have a good winter project. If you aren't doing anything on Dec 6 Wright Motorsports is having a tech session at their shop. Starts at 10:00AM.
