2010 GT3 CL recall, a NEW recall
#452
I'm researching this model after being Porscheless for the better part of a decade. I gotta say that this is a deterrent to buying a GT3. Going forward, if this is all that Porsche will do, that is disappointing. Perhaps the aftermarket may come out with bulletproof hubs...wishful thinking.

My 2010 gt3 has been at the dealer for a week. They said parts are being held up at Porsche. Anyone else? They did give me a panamera S (which i am enjoying) but I'd like my car back soon.

Look, it's a royal PITA, but it's still an awesome car. You can always get a 997.1, then you have other issues like coolant fittings, but not the CL's.

If the dealer had multiple cars within the CL Vin # range - parts were ordered automarically. If the dealer had only 1 effected vehicle-parts are ordered by PAV when car brought in. Grease ordered seperately

Great- Sorry for the delay in the answer. I have aftermarket MCS suspension and they were fine with it. I've done the complete service which also included front wheel bearings, hubs and CL nuts, which wasn't cheap.

$3200- included new dust caps as well. This is for four new CL nuts, new front hubs and bearings, and installation.

A little birdie dropped this into my mailbox, enjoy. Full attribution to GNIL- Rennteam:
"991 GT3 Central locking
The central locking on the new 911 GT3 is a completely new development with higher load limits and improved suitability for track use. The new 911 GT3-specific central lock is identified by a more robust wheel hub for a significantly improved camber stability and carrier bolts that are now fixed to the wheel hub (997 GT3 II: fastened to the brake chamber).
The significantly improved connection system is enhanced by larger bearing journals and larger wheel bearings that are now identical to the 911 GT3 Cup racing cars. The central screws have a friction-optimised trapezoidal screw thread and a thread runout with reduced notch effect. The new central screws can be recognised visually by the revised ring gear. The dimensions and the basic shape of the central screws have been retained and the teeth re-accented by distinctive spaces between them. The central screws are anodised black on the new 911 GT3 and have a black wheel hub cover with a silver-coloured “GT3” logo. "

Interesting. That answers a number of questions I've seen around here. Thanks, Savy. I do wonder, as 911rox suggests, what, if any, maintenance schedule there'll be.

Do you guys think there is any chance they will step up and correct the situation for us? I'm betting they won't but this is my first Porsche. Maybe you guys that have been around them longer know something I don't.
It puzzles me that they haven't officially imposed the maintenance schedule on 2011 cars. What's up with that?
