997 GT2
I want to know your thought about the 997 GT2.
I know it is not yet in the market, but you can almost guess the spec and price.
I love the GT2 and I am planning to buy one in the future. But I not sure does it worth it, especially I guess the motors are almost the same as the TT and the chassis are similar to the RS. Plus, the resell value is not strong.
For the new GT2 price, I guess I can buy a new Ferrari F430 race model. Which is around 530hp from a V8 NA motor.
Do you perfer the F430 CS or the new GT2 and why?

I prefer 997GT2 because we can use it as daily driver without worry about maintenance and reliability issue.
The F430CS certainly attract more attention and admiration from ordinary people.
But it is still part of Ferrari's entry level Platform.
While 997 is not built with Carrera GT Platform,it is not entry level model (Boxter and Cayman is the entry level model).
And 997GT2 is the most expensive top of the line Porsche in current Production (in the near future) when it come out.
For me I choose to buy top of the line offering from Porsche.
Beside the 997GT2 should be faster on acceleration and on the track anyway as proven on most endurance road race result.

if you can get a f430 light pista at msrp then go for it. when time comes to sell it you will make money. with the gt2 you would probably loose half of what you paid in two years. that is if the 9996 gt2 was any indication.

I just want a wonderful car to drive, so if I go for the new GT2 than I probably won't sell it. The good thing about the GT2 is the timeless design and I don't have to wait so long time like the Ferrari.

I never really pay attention that the 996GT2 is not used by the factory for racing.
As you point it out to me,that the 997GT2 might not "officially" entered by the factory for racing.
I guess I am wrong...
But I hope they will be entered in some racing class in the future.
But still the F430CS and The 997GT3RS would be about equal if race on race track together.
and since 997GT2 is surely more powerfull then 997GT3RS,
if and only if the 997GT2 is entered into some racing series, then it should be faster then the F430CS.

The best thing of the GT2 is I can get it in 08. But I am not sure I will feel happy or not once the LP is here. I am going to just buy one, either the GT2 or the LP.

gt3mk1,
what is the spec and price on a 997gt2?
you really think a gt2 will cost as much as a 430lp? i don't.
are you saying you are 9th or 10th on the waiting list at your f-dealer?
if so, you don't have to worry about your chances for a 430lp.

I'm sure some of you guys know how Ferrari Dealers work. For most dealers, if u haven't bought one or 2 cars from them off their lot at a significant markup, there's no way in hell u will be able to get on the waiting list. So your only option would be to pick it up in the secondary markets, ebay and other people who take delivery and drive it like 500 miles and sell it again w/ a markup.
