I think it's a good $5K over what it's worth. With known deferred service you'll be into it for $36K before you blink. If you gotta have it just be sure there's nothing else out there in this price range.

Any used car is going to be a gamble. At $36k at least the OP has done the due diligence to mitigate the unforeseen. I overpaid to get the car that spoke to me and meet my basic requirements. Like I said before, Color combo, mileage, clean carfax etc. At $36k the OP will have the car he wants with some major wear and tear items already checked off the 'to do' list.

If its in his budget, I say go for it.

Thanks all, appreciate the input! Now time to crunch some numbers

I would like to see this car in person before I buy. A trip down south may be in order. Again, thank you ALL for your contributions to this thread - they have been invaluable!

EDIT: Also worth noting that the Tampa car firm at $35,990 is basically where this one will be after the required repairs. It may still be worthwhile to get a PPI done and see how that comes back.
