Default Odd front brake rotor wear

At first I was dismissive but now it's bugging me. I just started noticing after I washed my car last weekend. It's the same on both sides but this can't be normal.

My pads and rotors are fine. And I had a trackday in early May. I'll take the wheels off this weekend to take a better look.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: I searched but only found rotor replacement suggestions and hub painting (I'm going to do this one) threads.

what is wrong there? you seem to have normal wear.
some folks who track a lot go over 3-4 sets of oem rotors per season.

What exactly are you pointing out to? Also, are these rear or front?

Looks fine to me...even the rust on the outer edge is normal. It is just how the pads and rotors wear when used hard at the track and then use lightly on the street.

How is it that you have zero cracking in these rotors?

Typically the first few track days = no cracks. They'll be there soon!

OK, so those rotors: Are those truly wear lines/grooves (looks like it) or pad material?

Here are some shots of mine for comparison. These rotors have almost 60k miles on them including close to 30 track days. They're about due to be changed (well, the fronts anyway).

Your fronts are due for replacement--cracks at every hole!

Cracks are allowed as long as they don't connect the holes and are shorter than a length which I can't recall at the moment (1 CM?). My mechanic and I have measured these recently and we think they are ok for street driving. If I was going to the track I would replace them first, since I no longer track the car and I'm not driving it much, I'll do them sometime before winter.

I'd guess that if you got some dye on that rotor you would find the cracks go a lot farther than they first appear.

p-Car driver... 30 track days on stock rotors? Dang...I get cracks starting at 2 or 3 days and they last about 8-10 days for the fronts.

You're a more advanced driver than I - the first days were beginner.

Looks pretty normal to me. Mine look just like that. No track. 42,000 miles.

Thanks all.

The pics are from the fronts, left and right. The outer rim of rust is what I was concerned about. I've tracked other cars (911s/Ms/STI) and don't recall having that outer concentric ring.

So I'm understanding that the rotors will crack? My 993s stock Zimmerman rotors lasted for over 10 trackdays with an average of 5 20 minute sessions. I guess I better keep an I out for cracks.

Craig. I took that pic after parking it at work.
