Default 996 GT3 brake ducts - was this a bad joke?

So I was told to order the 997 GT3 brake ducts as a direct bolt on replacement for stock to improve air flow to the brakes. The first picture is stock. The second is GT3 (according to what Suncoast sent me). If anything, the stock looks like it would divert more air. Why would anyone recommend this change?

hummm...

That does not look like GT3 brake ducts...

Here is a photo of GT3 pieces... (but these are 996 GT3 parts, not 997 - GT-3 front brake ducts, Rear GT2 brake ducts Front Part No: 996-341-117-90 and 996-341-118-90 ... )

I had heard that the 997 GT3 ducts were similar to the 996 GT3 ducts and were b eing sold for a fraction of the price of the old 996 ducts.

I did the same thing and I dont think it was worth the change. To me they seem like they flow the same from the looks of them. I just couldnt justify shelling out $250 for some ABS plastic

I think the GT3 ducts flow more but they drag on everything. Good on the track but not so good on the street.

Take a look at this thread thread on 6speedonline. I think it is the 997 GT3 Cup ducts that are the big ones, the 997 GT3 are very similar to 996TT ducts, just a little longer.

Yup, You want the units pictured in front of the yellow splitter that got ripped off at VIR.

Seriously, you want the units Wachuka posted pics of. There's a reason they're $250.

Try ordering these parts numbers....

996.341.117.90 GT3Cup left
996.341.118.90 GT3Cup right

These are the parts shown in Wachuko's post.

That's almost $500. I thought there was a cheap way to do this now with 997 parts.

Default Check the price through......

The Racer's Group

http://www.theracersgroup.com/

You will probably have to call as they don't appear on their website. If you're on east coast try Farnbacherloles

http://www.farnbacherloles.com/

Both race teams sshould have these available. You can also try one of the low priced dealers. Just give them the part numbers.

Both parts are listed at $135 each on Renntech's US Price Look up.
